June 2026 - And we're off!

We managed to get all of the tree and brush debris from the  calamity (more details below) cleaned up in time for our first summer guests this weekend.

Guests all enjoyed the amenities and the weather was beautiful and perfect for taking in some of the resort and water activities.

We are now serving Kawartha Dairy ice cream in our tuck shop and it was a huge hit.

We're looking forward to more of the same this summer.

Local musicians, Gord Kidd & Friends, will be performing at the resort this summer.  There will be some private events but also one event which we invite our neighbours to join in on July 29, 2026 at 3:00 pm.  No charge.  Tips/Donations to the musicians are appreciated.

Haliburton Home and Cottage Show 2026

It's hard to believe we've been here for over  a year now. We've certainly had our share of challenges since our move to the Highlands, some expected, some not so much;  some minor, some not so much.

Regardless, we have met hundreds of wonderful people, xo many it's hard to keep track of all the names. We're back at the Haliburton Home and Cottage Show for a second year and once again have drawn for a free weekend.  Congratulations to James Smith, whom, coincidentally was at the booth right next to us.  You can see his wife busy working the booth behind us in the draw video (below).  We look forward to hosting them in the coming months.

On a tougher note, the first night of the home show a large pine tree crashed to the ground due to the high winds.  If that was all, it would have been a bother but easy to fix.  However, it landed on our hydro pole which broke in half, yanking the hydro cables from the cabins and a second hydro pole further down the property, which in turn broke off and pulled more cables from cabins, causing extensive damage to a couple of cabins.  The cables were live and strewn across the lawn for a couple of days like that.  Hydro One eventually cut the power and we were left with no power for almost 2 weeks while we secured contractors to clean up the mess and repair the damage.

Glad to say, we're back to where we started (with a few minor repairs remaining) and ready for the busy summer bookings.

It's definitely been a ride so far!
